Join CERP3 for our second monthly Education Research, Practice, and Policy Seminar Series. The November Seminar will be held held in-person with Julia Fleckman, PhD to discuss the how violence effects education.
Dr. Fleckman will share lessons from over a decade of community-engaged violence prevention work in New Orleans, including her coalition-building efforts and current William T. Grant-funded project in partnership with NOLA Public Schools and the Center for Restorative Approaches. She’ll discuss how schools have served as critical partners in coalition work and what that means for researchers and practitioners working in school settings.
Julia Fleckman’s work centers on the prevention of violence and violence-related harms. Her scholarship is focused on understanding how structural and social conditions play a role in shaping community and family -level violence as well as the development and implementation of successful prevention strategies. She has a particular emphasis on community-partnered research and evaluation, with the goal of strengthening multi-sector collaborations and community organizational capacity to utilize data and best practices.
