At an ISP Summer Showcase Pilot session, faculty with the Institute for School Partnership helped educators from the pre-school to high school level take their research findings from the ISP Showcase and imagine disseminating it to a wider audience.
In May, over 20 local K-12 teachers shared research projects at the ISP Showcase that took data they learned from their classes to address research questions about K-12 education.
Teachers worked with ISP to make a plan for furthering the sharing of their research and make a rough timeline for those steps forward, which could include publishing their work in the form of a conference presentation, an op-ed in a newspaper, or a presentation to fellow teachers. One option was sharing research at professional development days to help increase conversation, and advice teachers are getting from other teachers in their building, rather than advice from a different environment.
Research in the showcase includes exploring how multisyllable word decoding in science classes can affect overall reading comprehension and how smaller learning groups could teach math more effectively at the kindergarten level, among other projects. Research projects can be viewed here.
